On 18 and again on 22 June 1940, shortly after the fall of France to German invasion, General Charles de Gaulle broadcast from London. In his first broadcast he finished by saying: ‘Whatever happens, the flame of the French resistance must not be extinguished and will not be extinguished’. Hear how that resistance supported the Allied liberation of Europe on 17 June 1944.
